Aung Lin,Khaing Khaing Maw emerge Sportsman and Sportswoman
of the Year

May— Under the leadership of the Myanmar National
Olympic Council and Myanmar Olympic Committee, the
Myanmar Sports Writers Federation held a ceremony to
present Sportsman and Sportswoman of the Year 2003
at the Traders Hotel on Sule Pagoda Road on 11 May
evening, with an address by Chairman of MOC Minister
for Sports Brig-Gen Thura
Aye Myint.

Tennis Tournament
YANGON,
1 May — The prize-presentation ceremony of Myanmar
Tennis Federation President’s Trophy Tennis
Tournament was held at Theinbyu Tennis Court here
this evening. It was attended by Myanmar Olympic
Committee Chairman Minister for Sports Brig-Gen
Thura Aye Myint, officials of the ministry, MTF
President U Zaw Zaw and executives and guests.
Before the ceremony the final matches of the
tournament took place.

Upgrading
tasks of archery, football grounds inspected

April — Chairman of Myanmar Olympic Committee Minister for
Sports Brig-Gen Thura Aye Myint arrived archery ground of
Myanmar Archery Federation on Kyaikkasan Grounds this
morning and inspected upgrading tasks of the ground and
practising of archers. He heard reports on upgrading tasks
of archery ground and condition of training presented by
President of Myanmar Archery Federation Dr Khin Shwe,
Vice-President U Tint Hsan and officials concerned. |

April - Chairman of Myanmar Olympic Committee Minister for
Sports Brig-Gen Thura Aye Myint attended the ceremony to
honour those who won honorary titles awarded by the State
Peace and Development Council according to its
notification No 2/2004 and No 5/2004 on 4 January 2004, at
National Indoor Stadium-1 in Thuwunna this morning. |

Aung San Tin of the Adjutant-General's Office of the
Ministry of Defence, who will participate in the friendly

Chairman's Trophy inter-district women's football
tournament for 2004 was opened at the sports ground of
Myanma Railways in Insein Township, Yangon North District
at 3.30 pm today, attended by Chairman of Yangon Division
Peace and Development Council Commander of Yangon Command
Maj-Gen Myint Swe and wife Patron of Yangon Division
Organization for Women Affairs Daw Khin Thet Htay. First,
Maj-Gen Myint Swe made a speech. Next, athletes took a
sports oath. In the opener, Yangon South District women's
team played against Yangon North District women's team.
